Join DCA's Government Affairs Manager, Grayson Middleton, for the second workshop of our DCA Member Advocacy Series. As a Delmarva farmer, your engagement with local and state governments is critical to protecting your livelihood and success. Sharing your story with our elected officials can have a profound impact on how they view and vote on an issue. As such, writing and delivering an effective testimony before a legislative committee or local governing body is one of the most important ways you can advocate for yourself and other farmers. In this workshop of our DCA Member Advocacy Series, you will learn how to write and deliver an effective testimony. You will learn how to determine whether you should submit written testimony or deliver it in person, how to address your testimony, how to time your testimony, and what things you should focus on in your limited time. You will see examples of testimony that I and DCA members have delivered in the past. We will also review the committee process and how to track legislation and committee schedules. Finally, we will end with a time for questions and answers. Hearing directly from our members is the most effective way to lobby policymakers, and we hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to protect yourself and advance the causes of our organization.
